Lina’s Story

Lina was brought by her father to her to the first vision pilot project in 2013, dressed in her very best clothes.

Although her eyesight was normal, she did not speak and appeared unable to hear.

After missing a substantial amount of schooling, Lina was able to have a reliable hearing test. She was then assessed by the Ministry of Education for placement in a school for hearing impaired children where she could learn Kenyan Sign Language along with other curriculum subjects.
Unfortunately, Lina’s family did not have the money to cover the additional expenses for her to attend a specialized school. Nor did they have the money to pay for her books, uniform and travel, as she had to leave her home to attend a boarding school in another county, many hours travel by car.

Sponsoring Lina

REGAINED now sponsors Lina to attend the boarding school and covers her expenses for books, clothing and travel each term. She has become proficient at Kenya sign language and progressing well at school.
